Welcome
Tom was elected in June 2004 as the second UKIP MEP for the Eastern region. He joins a greatly enlarged UKIP contingent in the European Parliament, part of the ten strong MEP team. He was delighted to be asked to represent the Party's view on the Culture, Media; Education and Sport committee and soon made his mark. (See separate report)
This outstanding electoral success was due in no small part to the huge effort made by members and supporters across the region who organised dozens of public meetings, erected hundreds of posters and delivered thousands of leaflets. Backed up by a massive billboard campaign, the simple message "SAY NO" to European Union was well received by the public who turned out in their thousands to register support.
In November 2004, Tom set up his office just off Leighton Buzzard's High Street and recruited a team to assist in getting out the message to a receptive and eager electorate. Following Tom's election in 2004 he vowed that he would not employ for remuneration family members to assist him in his political work.
Tom takes great pride in being part of the only Party that is telling the British people the truth about the European Union and always puts Britain first. We must leave the EU and negotiate a mutually acceptable trading agreement, which is what we were told was happening in 1973.
